Andy McWilliams (The Scattered PAGES and Deadwood Forest) has had some of his solo works placed in the documentary "a/k/a Tommy Chong." This has seen a recent airing on the Showtime networks and will be available via On Demand for the next 4 weeks. Go and check it out! 500 Records Becomes Subsidiary of Three Ring Records!

When Three Ring Records was formed in 2003, it was one of our goals to expand into a collective of like-minded labels who share some of our core philosophies: helping struggling bands with the talent but not the direction to release music on their own, enlisting bands as a “family”, and supporting community efforts.

It is with pleasure that we introduce a fine addition to our ever-expanding family: 500 Records! San Francisco’s own 500 Records, a dynamic new record label, is brought to us by our mighty friends (and current Three Ring / 500 band) Form and Fate, and is sure to be an instant winner in the Bay Area indie scene. While Three Ring has leaned a bit more towards indie-pop, 500 Records is sure to sate your craving for the more esoteric.

500 Records’ first release “No End to Limitations” by Manuok (man-you-o-k) is set to hit stores, both digitally and physically November 18th. Manuok is the project of multi-instrumentalist Scott Mercado, who has seen action with the Black Heart Procession and The Album Leaf. They couldn’t have begged for a more incredible launch for their new venture!

Stay tuned for more releases in the 500 camp by James and Evander, Spark and Decay, Dasto, the Guitar Zeros and many others in the coming months. 500 Records is ready to feed you more indie gems than you can wave a light-saber at!

Wow! It's been a long time! We will definitely start posting again, I promise you!

So quite a bit has happened, the Bay Area Takeover was a massive success, new albums have popped up and Rykarda is kicking butt!

We have two new albums that have hit, the Lonelyhearts "Disaster Footage at Night" and Audio Out Send's "Sharpen the Hours." Both have been released on most digital outlets and the physical releases are getting out there as well but expect to see more by mid December. Reviews to come later!

Rykarda will be "owning" the stage when she opens for Shudder To Think at the Fillmore on November 2nd. For those of you that have not had the opportunity to see her perform, get out to this show as it could be her last for some time!!!

And we would like to welcome Kevin McCracken to the Three Ring family! He will be helping us with the day-to-day operations of our venture!

Three Ring and Noise Pop 2008 - a perfect combination!

That's right folks, Three Ring Records has partnered up with Noise Pop Industries, host of the popular Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco - going 16 years strong! The dates for the festival this year are Feb. 26 - Mar. 2

What does this mean for you? Well, it means a couple of things.

- Three Ring has compiled some of the best up and coming bands into one spectacular sampler - titled Noise Pop 2008 - and it's free! There will be cds available at all Noise Pop Festival shows. For those of you who are unable to attend a show this year, you can download a digital copy of the sampler at eMusic - but hurry, it will only be available until March 15! The sampler includes tracks by Earlimart, Elephone, Aim Low Kid, Cursive, Audio Out Send, Dengue Fever, D.W. Holiday, Georgie James, Music For Animals, The Botticellis, The Lonelyhearts, and The Union Trade!

- Three Ring will be hosting Happy Hour at Thee Parkside on Wednesday, February 27! Stop in any time between 5pm and 8pm to hear some live music, say hello, grab a drink (drink specials!), and party with Three Ring Records! There will be special performances by Music For Animals, Solar Powered People, and Jub - and this will be a FREE event!

Also, be sure to check out other performances by Three Ring bands during the festival:

- Audio Out Send on Saturday, 3/1, at Thee Parkside - Happy Hour 5pm - 8pm - FREE

Three Ring Records is proud to annouce our partnership with Tricycle Records and The Bay Bridged to bring you The Bay Area Takeover - Austin 2008!

After witnessing years of depleted spirit at industry conference music festivals, the Bay Area Takeover has decided: it's time to bring that independent spirit back! The Bay Area Takeover is an entity committed to reinvigorating the music festival as a place to discover great new music from some of the San Francisco Bay Area's best record labels.

The first Takeover will be an independent showcase held during the 2008 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas on March 13th at the Beauty Bar. The event will feature fifteen Bay Area bands, known in the indie world as some of the hottest up-and-coming and under the radar groups, including Film School, Scissors For Lefty, Two Gallants, Von Iva, Scrabbel, and more!

MFA and the stolen bass...

So our friends Music For Animals had their van violated. Here is an email that I received from the guys:

hey there, so some sort of bad Karma finally struck MFA and our van was broken into last night, luckily we didnt have a lot of gear in it but our bass players bass guitar was stolen and its is very precious to him. If any of you musicians out there see a gibson SB 350 short scale bass for sale, wood colored (it was shaved) 1972 or 73 with a body like an SG- pleaseeeeeeee let us know, he would love to get it back! So if you see this unique bass at your local pawn shop, music store or perhaps stage, be sure to report to the proper authorities and lets get this instrument back into its owner's hands.

Holy cow! Loads of new Christmas releases!

For those of you that are not aware of eMusic, go and sign up! They have great programs at reasonable prices.

We have 4 new releases that just went up at eMusic. In time these will be available everywhere else. We will be sure to bring you the news once we see them pop up elsewhere!

Gamma Gamma brings us "I Want Your Baud." For those of you that like the classic sounds of the Commodore 64 and Atari this one is for you.

The Lonelyhearts have given us "The Four-Wheel Drive EP," which includes 3 new songs and a remix by our own Chris Cline. Stay tuned for a new full length the first quarter of next year!!!

The Bother is finally back after a 4 year break with "Smoke in an Umbrella." We certainly hope to hear more soon. 4 years was far to long William.

And last but not least is the new EP from Form and Fate. "Recirc" is sure to generate more buzz as this band will only do bigger and better things in 2008.

And for those of you that missed the sampler go and grab it at eMusic. Good stuff here friends and it costs you squat! No excuse to miss this one!

The Parties

We are so excited to have this band on board. They stole the show at our 2007 Three Ring Records MCMF showcase. The Parties are a high energy and infectious band with lush vocal harmonies and a high-spirited back beat. A MUST SEE live and check out their new 6 song EP which will be available digtally in the near future.

At The Crossroads

Thanks for all of the support by the bands and the fans at the Three Ring showcase during Mission Creek Music Festival this year! We were able to raise awareness and cash for At The Crossroads - yay!

Jub

We would like to welcome the first Electronic Instrumental artist to the Three Ring family - Jub! Jub comes to us from sunny Modesto where we are sure that the bright air and scenic views have inspired him to create music that is like a Trip-Hop version of Boards Of Canada. Be on the lookout for Jub's 15 song debut which will be available digitally very soon!

Girlfight Recordings

When Three Ring was first formed, one goal we had was to work hand-in-hand with other Bay Area labels to co-release music that would reach a wider audience.

We are proud to announce the first partnership of this kind with a local label called Girlfight Recordings. Girlfight is a relatively new label specializing in electronic music. Be on the lookout for the co-release titled 'Pink Noise' - a compilation featuring the music of local and not-so-local electronic musicians!

The Lonelyhearts

The band continues work on their upcoming Three Ring release tentatively titled 'Disaster Footage at Night'. If you were one of the lucky ones to see the band perform over the past month, you would have caught a glimpse of their new songs which they have been testing out live.

You can pick up The Lonelyhearts' two prior releases on DIY or Else or you can wait until they are available digitally on Three Ring - look for these on iTunes in September!

The Bother

Be on the lookout! The new EP titled 'Smoke in an Umbrella' is coming soon to a digital store near you! The Bother is also working on their next Full Length which will be available as a digital download or on 12" Vinyl only.

The Bother has finally started to use Myspace, but has few friends. Please help to make him feel less lonely and add him!

D.W. Holiday

D.W. Holiday has been quite busy with three new releases so far in 2007!

The political stomp EP/single FOG OF WAR and the dazed Full length album LINCOLN are already available now digitally. Coming next is another full length affair titled THE WAVE which will soon be released and ready for consumption this summer.
